![]() In all age groups the winning medal is for 1st place only. if a 75 year old Female wins the race, they win Female Open, F40+, F50+, F60+ ,F70+ and F75+. Open has no age group just Male or Female.Īll senior age groups are over the specified age. Hopefully we'll sort the winning results out efficiently enough to be able to do the presentations at about 12:45 within range of the finish line out the front of the George. So if you think you've won and in a post race hurry don't scuttle off without saying goodbye so we can give you your medal. Prizes: We've had some medals made and all hand painted for all the category winners. We also finish next to Youlgrave Harriers HQ, The George pub, which is where the after party is. We'll have water set up at the end with paper cups, but if you have your own mug in your kit, please bring it to cut down on waste. Tight shoelaces are advised to avoid leaving shoes in the swamp. There's no bag drop, but it's a small village so you won't be far away from your car or house. It may be warm and it's not a quick route, if you normally need water in the warm for 60min+ runs.take water. There are long sections of potential mud and we weave on and off the Limestone way which can be VERY slippy in places. However this is a fell race and there is an expectation that the runner will carry what is appropriate for them. ![]() Kit : The weather is behaving so therefore there is no requirement for the FRA mandatory kit. It's on a wide section of the left hand side pavement, so look left when you're running down the street. The finish : The finish is on the main street of the village about 200m further along from where you started back towards the registration location, between the village shop and the George pub. The start is a few metres uphill from the village well in the centre of the village, very near to Peak Feast Bakery and the Bulls Head pub. The route lends itself to splitting the field in the 1st mile, so do not assume there'll be anybody to follow. Assume the FRA description of 'partially marked' and come prepared to have to do some navigation. However we may be missing a marshal or they may have to move, a walker could 'tidy up' an arrow or tape. We've tried very hard to put more marshals and markers than is normal as it's the 1st edition. ![]() The weather is behaving so things should dry out, but no promises. We recommend the latter approach, oh and they like it if you sing for them. If you run close to them, they'll probably chase you, if you amble past them with a little space, they'll probably ignore you. However, they're cows so they'll do what they want. We plan for them not to be in the way and for us to have a cow whisperer on potential meeting points, so there shouldn't be any interaction. ~80% of the route is on potential grazing land, can't avoid the land sharks. Be prepared for some long climbs, Limestone on the descents (it can get very slippy, very suddenly) and a swamp. The links to various maps of the route are below. WE DO NOT WANT TO BE OUT ON A BODY HUNT IF YOU'RE IN THE PUB. IF YOU WITHDRAW PART WAY THROUGH TELL A MARSHAL OR CHECK IN AT THE FINISH. Opposite the village hall in the centre of the village near the start line. Alport Lane Playing fields, Youlgrave (where parking and registration is).Ģ. Its the village football and cricket pitches.ġ. From Alport Lane Playing Fields, Youlgrave. Registration (number collection): 9:30 to 10:40. Make sure you leave sufficient room to allow buses, tractors and fire engines to pass. If you're passing and there's space, please park up, you're 800m downhill from the registration desk in the playing fields. There is also a car park at Coldwell End at the 'top' of the village. The village is only 800m end to end, so if you see a sensible parking space enroute, feel free to utilise as you'll be close to where you need to be. We've arranged to use the village playing fields, however space is limited so please car share. Parking : Alport Lane Playing Fields, Youlgrave DE45 1WN.
